| We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join a world leader in innovation and delivery of innovative high-technology equipment and solutions to the global food and non-food processing industries. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for buying a variety of commodities, and developing & managing a portfolio of UK and international suppliers Your duties will include: * Develop partnerships and seek new suppliers as appropriate to achieve cost savings and performance improvements. * Negotiate with agreed supplier's optimum purchasing terms of quality, price and delivery. Monitor and communicate supplier performance * Purchase materials required for production, in line with MRP& KANBAN recommendations and commercial agreements, by means of purchase orders and supplier schedules. * Source new suppliers as required, sending out drawings for quotes and assessing capabilities. * Liaise with suppliers in response to engineering changes, for example, issuing new drawings, managing quotations and assessing supplier capabilities in order to support smooth new product introduction. * Co-ordinate materials quality and availability issues to minimise disruption to production, and communicate status to all parties at all times. * Maintain system parameters to ensure MRP integrity and accurate purchasing data. * Some amount of travel is expected. You should have a good procurement experience in a manufacturing engineering environment Ideally, you should also have a demonstrable experience of working in lean supply chain environment.
