Chief technology officer cto


A fast growing company providing mobile learning solutions to schools and cultural venues is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to help drive forward the technical vision for the company. The OOKL platform was built with seed funding from the UK Government and has been the subject of three external evaluations and has a growing base of installations. Role Description: 
You will be responsible for establishing our technical vision and leading all aspects of our technology development and operations. This is a hands-on role helping to shape the direction of our business and how we capitalise on technology. You will be actively talking to customers and making sure the products features and performance match the customer needs and expectations. This role could be p/t , f/t or contractual depending on the person You will: -lead the execution of our strategy relating to technology platforms, partnerships, and external technology relationships. -quickly come up to speed on current product offerings. -build and manage a technology team and oversee research and development -anticipate and react to major changes in the technology and competitive marketplace to ensure we protect/grow our business -establish technical standards and ensure adherence to them for product development and company operations. -Identify and address any operational issues relating to the performance of our systems Candidate Specification: The ideal candidate for the role will be an innovative entrepreneurial executive who has held a prior leadership role within a large organization or has proven experience within a start-up. - Must have experience in web and mobile environment - 5-10 years of software development - Experience of internet-based client-server application development and deployment - 7+ years in a senior project development position managing complex technological development projects with a track record of successfully transferring software products from R&D; into scalable solutions. - Ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps. - Ability to architect, implement and lead others in implementing all aspects of software development at the system, sub-system and component levels. - BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science ideal. - Candidates must have experience working with the following technologies: Java, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Flash, AJAX, MySQL - A background in 'learning' would be ideal but is not necessary.
