Linux Sysamin Required for web development agency |
| We build high availability rich internet applications and are looking for a Linux expert to co-manage a network of web, email, database, DNS, backup and workgroup servers. We use the following technologies and packages, so you should have decent knowledge of most of this list: - PHP and MySQL (replication and optimising) - Apache (Rewrites, Virtualhosts and ACL) - Linux OS (RHEL & CentOS with SELinux) - SVN version control - Python, Perl and/or Shell - Exim/Postfix/Dovecot and/or Courier The Role will include: - Provisioning web applications on the Byng server farm using our framework - Monitoring in-house servers and client workgroup servers - Responsibility for the smooth running of the Byng infrastructure - Responsibility for assisting clients with connectivity and infrastructure issues - Provisioning and configuring a range of new servers with a variety of characteristics You should be comfortable proactively monitoring systems, tweaking and observing to make sure all systems in your purview are operating optimally. These systems will be powering large-scale software applications and, as such, part of the role will be as gatekeeper to a stable deployment platform, monitoring code updates and database schema alterations. We innovate through its staff by providing an environment where employees can expand their skills and operate with a high degree of autonomy. Particularly with this role, you will be expected to ensure the stability of the Byng infrastructure, and be able to quickly, logically and reliably fix problems as and when they arise. You should be comfortable configuring and troubleshooting LAMP web server environments and ideally would have PHP, Shell, Python or Perl scripting experience to optimise software provisioning processes. Knowledge of at least one MTA and IMAP server is preferred as well as experiences mitigating connectivity, firewall and routing issues.
