Oncology Service Line Project Manager


Our client, a world renowned and well respected private international healthcare company based in Central London, have an immediate requirement for an ONCOLOGY SERVICE LINE PROJECT MANAGER for a fixed term contract of 12 months (with possibility of an extension).
The role is to undertake the overall project management for the Oncology Service Line (OSL) projects and with a significant IT&S; component, including detailed planning, resource management, communication, implementation, and handover to the operational support teams.
The coordination of implementation activities (including the development of processes to exploit the investment in the new & existing systems and to maintain them securely in operational use) will involve standard project management techniques, change management, expectation management and sensitivity to the politics and culture of the various parties, consistent with current Company IT&S; standards and protocols.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
* To manage all projects in accordance with ‘Prince2' project management methodology and to participate in procuring new systems according to local Company policy.
* To ensure that all projects are planned to an appropriate level of detail and that all plans are submitted to the Programme Office.
* To ensure that every project has a communication plan and that the project team are aware of and adhere to their communication responsibilities.
* To ensure that issues of data security, disaster recovery and business continuance have been considered and addressed.
* To be responsible for all project administration including risk and issue management.
* To ensure that project funds, timescales, resources and issues are appropriately managed, monitored and reported.
* To provide regular summary and exception reports to the OSL Programme Board and the IT&S; Programme Office.
* Where appropriate manage the change control process and negotiate revisions with suppliers, the Project Board members and development and support groups in IT&S.;
* To provide guidance and motivation to the project teams and thereby promote best practice project management practices.
* To manage customer expectations effectively.
* To ensure that project teams develop and deliver training for accessing and using new systems and re-configured systems.
* To ensure that projects are appropriately and fully documented.
* To ensure efficient and effective handover of systems to the support groups at project closure.
* To ensure that projects are formally closed, where appropriate, and that lessons learned are captured and submitted to the Programme Office.
* To design the post-project review plan including ensuring anticipated benefits are evaluated.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
* A degree/equivalent professional qualification in Computer Science, Project Management or related discipline essential.
* Evidence of successful project delivery (of a reasonable level of complexity) is essential.
* Broad knowledge of the Healthcare Information Systems (HCIS) including an understanding of the system integration throughout departments essential.
* 3 years project management experience including budgeting monitoring, supplier selection and procurement desirable.
* Clinical qualification/experience desirable.
PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY
* Ability to suggest solutions to problems.
* Understanding of relevant systems.
* Understanding of HCIS integration issues.
* Understand issues of network/infrastructure management.
* Ability to accurately assess, report and resolve (within experience level) problems.
RISK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Overall responsibility for project management of agreed systems.
* Supports initiatives to adjust group culture to respond positively to the requirements of the change.
* Maximizes the Company's investment by understanding and promoting the utilisation of the full potential of the systems.
* Responsible for the completeness of records and documentation related to those projects and initiatives for which the position holder is the Project manager.
* In line with the Data Protection Act 1998, and the Company's Code of Conduct, the post holder will be expected to maintain confidentiality in relation to personal and patient information.
* The post holder will be expected to comply with Company Health and Safety requirements.
SKILLS AND EFFORT

* Able to prioritise tasks to address the best interest of the business.
* Detailed organisational skills.
* Project management skills (Prince2 Qualification or equivalent).
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to work independently as well as a team member.
* Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of staff.
* Demonstrated advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills.
* Ability to interact with vendors and other allied professionals.
* Proficient with PC office automation software, MS Project, and automated project management tools.
* Able to facilitate meetings and conduct workshops or training as required.
