| Job Description * Verify Inspection and Test Plan or equivalent exists before sub-contractors start work and that the relevant checks are carried out. * Review Quality control and implement best practice * Apply health and safety regulations * Explain critical path work for the section or project * Review that records are kept for work performed, problems experienced, average labour force in each area, verbal communications to/from client, sub-contractor and third parties. * Illustrate Project/Regional Environmental Plan, including rolling programmes and review progress * Revise information with designers and project team regularly. * Supervise and review performance of team members * Prepare risk assessments and method statements * Oversee setting-out and checking of setting-out * Regular calibration testing of instruments and recording of tests * Reviewing drawings/method statements and passing information on to the Site Supervisor and/or labour force, * Prepare and present reports on progress and programme. * Chair meetings with sub-contractors, engineers and direct labour * Monitoring subcontractors including reviewing their Method Statement and Risk Assessments * Developing and update sectional programme in line with main construction programme * Present and prepare tool box talks * Check schedules against drawings, liaising with designers over changes * Carry out material reconciliation and provide documentary reports * Other duties as reasonably required Scope of work responsible for Services Provided * Management of the Civil and M&E; design * Management and coordination of service diversions * Providing the specialist tunnelling equipment * Management of all construction and installations * Testing and commissioning Benefits to the Customer * Ability to deliver the project for Thames Water on time * Provide good technical management of both design and construction Assist Thames Water in the management of third parties and the public with due consideration for their interests. Background: The existing West Ham sewer system is a combined foul and storm water facility that has been overwhelmed by rainfall on number of occasions over the last decade. The resultant flooding has been very distressing for the local residents and businesses, so over the last couple of years Thames Water have developed this flood alleviation scheme to provide relief to over 500 properties in the district. Project Description: This critical project for Thames Water, which will deliver flood relief for over 500 houses in the E7 postcode, includes: - * 2 km of "live" online pipeline upsizing and numerous new manholes all completed within the busy streets. * Numerous services diversions and traffic management arrangements. * 3km of 2.87m diameter tunnel through mixed ground (Lambeth Beds) using a new full face TBM * 5No. tunnel shafts, including a major pumping station, all in water bearing ground using both the caisson and underpinning method. * 2.5km of 1200mm microtunnel, using slurry TBM's * 19No. Microtunnel shafts. * Specialist ground dewatering techniques will be used at number of the shaft positions The project value is GBP40 million.
