Market Risk Analyst
The Company
Robert half Financial Services Group are looking for a Risk Analyst to work in the Middle Office department of a leading bank in the City of London. The purpose of this position is to assist in the daily management of trading positions against authorised limits and to report any exceptions to local senior management and to Global Middle Office Toronto.
The Role
Key Responsibilities The Analyst will be providing risk monitoring, analysis, and risk reports across a range of capital markets products. Some of the duties are detailed below, but may change over time. The analyst will be expected to be capable of producing risk reports for use by traders, global risk management and local senior management. The analyst will have responsibility for ensuring that risk reports are correct, and be able to resolve any problems in their production. The core responsibility is oversight of Fixed Income and Currencies market risk. The role encompasses: Identify, analyse and report on significant risk positions in the Fixed Income and Currencies business area. Resolving any market risk reporting problems relating to inaccurate position data, market data, system feed issues, etc. Ensuring risk position data is accurately recorded in the Firms Value-at-Risk platform. Monitoring and reporting adherence to limits, standing orders, escalating limit excesses appropriately to management. Performing regular independent valuation of trading positions and inputs to valuation models. Developing, implementing and testing new risk reports. Fixed Income and Currencies - Product Range The business comprises origination, sales and trading of Government & Corporate Bonds (ranging from High Grade to Sub Investment Grade) Structured Bonds & Notes Interest Rate Swaps & Options Credit Derivatives FX Emerging Markets Requirements The incumbent will have a sound understanding of fixed income securities government, corporate, asset-backed, etc. A good first degree in either a quantitative or economics-related subject. At least one year of capital markets experience, gained in either a support or trading room role High level of enthusiasm to learn on the job. The incumbent will be exposed to a wide variety Fixed income products and ways of measuring market risk. Competent user of Excel (Visual Basic would be an advantage) to automate risk-reporting processes. Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary & Benefits
£40,000 - £55,000
