The Pub: An opportunity to work in an award-winning real ale house, where quality is important throughout the product range offered, from beer or bar snacks to main meals. We are a traditional English village pub, with local regulars and travelling trade. Lunches are served every day, including traditional pub favourites such as home-cooked honey roast ham, egg and chips, plus interesting homemade dishes and cooks specialities. Although we do not regularly serve evening meals, we do occasional themed meals such as Burns Night Supper. We use specialist and local suppliers wherever possible to buy good quality food.
The Cook: This will be someone who wants to put their experience into practice in a commercial environment. They will know how to boil an egg and be creative enough to add their personal touches to the menu. The cook will work alone on quiet days (after training) and have help from the landlady at busy times. Planning shopping lists, cleaning, stock rotation and everyday preparation are all part of the job. You will be adept at using a carving knife, scrubbing brush and microwave. You will be organised enough to tidy, plan ahead, cook and shout for help all at the same time. Duties can include menu-planning and creative input, although not essential. Fluent English essential. Valid EU work visa if applicable.

The details: Maximum 6 days per week, usually 5 hours per day at lunchtime, plus additional hours to be arranged for batch cooking or evening events. Employed or self-employed status whichever suit you.
Wages are above average with good flexible terms. Experience of commercial kitchens a bonus, but on the job training is available, plus personal development training to suit your needs. We cannot offer accommodation at the pub, so you will need to make your own travel arrangements.
