Ornamental twin drawer unit for top of desk or sideboard gbp
These drawers are late Victorian - Arts & Crafts Movement style. They'd originally have been part of a larger piece of furniture, probably a dressing-table -- standing either side on top and used to store jewellery -- with mirrors now missing from the inset black squares (see photos), but have been joined together at a later date by a long upper shelf (connected by dowels)which has been stained to match.
They're made of oak, golden brown with darker inlay panels, and have the original decorative brass handles.
These things are beautifully hand-made and in excellent condition, with only minor marking in keeping with their age They'd make a really classy, unusual, elegant and useful extension to the top of a desk, table or sideboard.
The full unit measures 35" (abt. 89 cm) at its widest point, x 14" (abt. 35.5 cm) high, & 9.25" (abt. 23.5 cm) deep. Distance between the drawers is 13" (abt. 33 cm). Measurements of each drawer (excluding alcove & upper shelf) are as follows: outer frame = 10.5" (abt. 27 cm) wide, x 4.5" (abt. 11 cm) high, x 9" (abt. 23 cm) deep --inner storage space = 8.25" (abt. 21 cm) wide, x 2.75" (abt. 6.5 cm) high, x 5.75" (abt. 14.5 cm) deep.
