POSITION: Laundry/Kitchen and shift Engineer
(Occasional Shift Engineer cover)
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTING TO: Assistant Chief Engineer
HOURS OF WORK: 39 hrs per week: Any 2 days off in 7.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* You will be responsible to the Assistant Chief Engineer directly and reports ultimately to the Chief Engineer.
* You will be responsible for any electrical or mechanical task that is given to you and to ensure all work is carried out in a professional manner.
* You will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all Laundry and kitchen equipment.
* You will be responsible for the Planned Preventative maintenance of the Laundry and kitchen equipment.
* You will be responsible for all emergency call outs for the Laundry and Kitchen equipment.
* You will assist the C&B; Engineer in his role, developing through training, a recognisable course to cover the position as and when the business requires.
* Oversee any new or re-furbished equipment installed in the Laundry or Kitchens
* You will be responsible for maintaining the equipment on a defined asset register and adhere to the associated maintenance contracts.
* You will be responsible for your own safety and the safety of others by the manner in which you perform your duties. Responsible for the implementation of the Hotels safe system of work and safety lock out systems.
* To carry out your duties on a shift rota as lay down by the Assistant Chief Engineer.
* You will be responsible for the efficient running of all plant and services whilst on duty.
* You are to supervise and instruct all other trades on duty, ensuring they have sufficient work at all times.
* You must be fully competent in the use of hand tools, power tools and portable test equipment. On completion of successful training be confident and competent in the switching of HV & LV Switch gear.
* You are to be fully conversant with the EMS & BMS Systems and to ensure they are fully functional at all times.
* You are to ensure all work is fully logged and any feedback necessary to your colleagues.
* You are to ensure a full working knowledge of all systems within the Hotel that fall under your responsibility.
* You are responsible for the correct operation of the Hotel's fire alarm system and all emergency procedures.
* You must be familiar with all the Hotel rules and ensure you and your colleagues abide by them.
* You cannot book any holiday/lieu time off while another shift engineering is either sick or on holiday at that given time.
* You cannot book a holiday/lieu time without giving prior notice of at least two weeks in advance.
POSITION: Shift Engineer
* You will attend all training sessions that are deemed necessary.
* You will carry out any reasonable task that may be given to you by the management of the Hotel.
* You will be responsible for the issuing and checking of the S.S.O.W. (Safe Systems of Work) and the Safety Lock out System.
* To comply with Company Health & Safety, and Fire Regulations and procedures.
* To undertake any other reasonable task/request by Management
* To be fully conversant with the Departmental brand standards, and adhere to them, I.E. Uniform, Leaving complaint tent cards, telephone manner, offering complimentary free drink etc.
* To be fully conversant with all relevant call-out contact telephone numbers, and be able to call out relevant contractors.
* Carry out security checkpoint walk rounds each shift
* To attend all departmental meetings.
PROCEDURES: Shift Engineer
1. Undertake a full and conversant handover from the out going shift engineer, before your shift commences.
2. Collect your bleep (and check it's function), check your uniform
3. (Departmental brand standards) and collect any relevant keys before your shift commences.
4. Log and communicate any engineering faults with the Assistant Chief Engineer, or the Chief Engineer, at the start or end of the shift.
5. Pick up and action any outstanding work request, written or verbal.
6. Provide regular and logical feedback on all works issued.
7. Building lamp check to be undertaken on night shift.
8. P.P.M. for key areas of plant to be undertaken on commencement of shift. I.E. Boilers, Chillers, Relevant A.H.U's, Relevant Pumps.
9. Read all utility meters once per day, and handover details to Chief Engineer.
10. Undertake a Fire Alarm Test on a weekly basis in-conjunction with the Assistant Chief Engineer, at the designated time.
11. Liaise frequently with relevant floor Housekeeping managers to undertake any, or all, required reported bedroom maintenance requests.
12. Ensure that the workshop is left in a safe/clean and operational state
13. Ensure a rapid response to assist in Fire Team duties, in the event of an occurrence.
14. Ensure all daily C&B; functions have relevant plant running.
15. To work on any reasonable delegated task issued by the Shift Engineering supervisor.
